How to Get These Holiday Hairstyles

Wow, Holiday Hair and here’s How-To! It’s that time of year again. The holiday season is in full swing. From holiday parties to friends gatherings, you want to make sure your image is ‘Wow’, especially for all those photos! From head to toe there is fun to be done! HAIR needs to be hydrated with a protein rich deep conditioning treatment (PK Intense Hydrating Conditioner www.pksalon.com)

• A faux-bob is a fun look for medium to long lengths. Start with hair set with a curling iron, or hot rollers, tight or loose waves/curls. Then clip up a section of hair starting above corners of eye’s and create a horse shoe section. The hair that is left down, lightly tease from the underneath and spray with hairspray. Then roll hair under using your hand as a roller, keeping it loose and pin inside the roll. Then release the top section and tousle the loose hair on top of the rolled section, and pin randomly.

We are so excited to to support ‘Operation Re-Invent’ and support the women that have served our country.  We will provide complete make-overs to these women so that they can join the workforce again. Below is an outline of the project that The Paul Kenneth Salon & Spa will support fully.  We plan to have up to 10 women a month in our salon to council on hair color, makeup, and hair care products.  Our Team looks forward to this substantial impact on our community and give back.

base to navigate the bureaucratic maze and reconnect to their new civilian life.

The bond with these mentors will

evaluation and, when needed,

The mentors are invaluable resources to women veterans recently separated

will provide a forward track to building a happy, healthy and productive civilian

and family life.

OPERATION reinvent that is as high in

quality as any offered by recruitment/placement and follow-up firms.

First, our women veterans will be assessed for their skills, military

background and experience levels, career goals, and personal inclination

for various types of jobs via a host of career and personality tests such as

Myers-Briggs. We will make sure that these women’s ambitions,

aspirations, and translatable skills are fully explored. Together we will

determine the best path to meet their individual needs.



Next, a clearly defined, individualized action plan is developed. Forexample, the plan may include working towards a college degree.

'Ombre'', The French termed hair trend,

is the hottest trend now! This look has been spotted on many A-list Celebrities…but is it right for you? This look is not for everyone..... Remember, trends come and go, so don’t think you need to jump on the bandwagon to be cool! This trend features darker more natural hues at the base with a gradual dyed lightening at the ends.  

A Few Positives:

 FROM 'THE MASTER ARTISAN'  PK'S CORNER PRESENTS– No Time to Shampoo Tips (Quick Change Artist)

Going out tonight? Want to add some quick soft, sexy waves to day old straight hair? This trick works best on medium to longer length hair. Randomly divide dry hair into 3 or 4 sections and working one section at a time, mist the section with PK Pro NO H2O® by Paul Kenneth Salon & Spa and gently brush through. Mist again lightly and then twist each section into medium to large knots and then pin at the scalp. To get big volume, you may want to use the powder version of no h2o, aim the twists for the top of the head and the crown area. The higher the elevation, the more volume you will get. For medium volume, aim for the round of the head. Thicker hair texture that require little to no volume, aim the knots toward the bottom of the hairline around the head. Then mist the entire head with a resin-free texture building product to create texture with a bit of natural hold and then try while you touch up your makeup. (For more hold, try the PK PRO Hairspray® by Paul Kenneth Salon & Spa) Once dry untwist the knots and tousle with fingers and you are date-ready with light hold and tons of shine with no build-up!

This technique controls and smoothes naturally wavy hair also. Just skip the brush and gently separate and smooth each section with fingertips. Also remember, the bigger the section the bigger the wave.

The messy half-up, half down look is a big trend right now. What’s great is that this is also an easy way to help today’s busy gal for when she is running late. The look actually works better when the texture is not perfect so this style works when you are in a hurry or don’t have time to wash and style your hair. Simply scrunch dry hair with a combination lightweight holding and hair refreshing product. . Lightly mist a section the lightly scrunch and gently hold each section for 3-5 sections. When finished, use your fingers, not a comb, to section the top half of your hair, meaning from the ears on up, and pull back into a ponytail in the center of the back of your head, wrap loose end around ponytail base, and secure with bobby pins.

A hybrid of this technique can be used to help preserve hair during exercise when you have to go back to the office or out in public afterwards. This also helps to keep hair out of your face during yoga practice or exercise and to make hair look great afterwards. Before putting your hair into a twist or braid, lightly spray hair with a product that is both a hair refreshing and a light styling product. Then put hair into 2 ponytails, twist for soft curls or braid them for soft waves. The key to creating any gorgeous hairstyle is to start with healthy, shiny hair.  Paul Kenneth shares his best beauty tips on how to score healthy hair even after months of winter abuse.

Step 1: Lather Up Gently
Basic winter hair care starts with a gentle shampoo that won't strip hair of moisture. Try to shampoo less than 3 times a week and use a dry shampoo in between washings. If you simply can't part with a favorite shampoo or daily wash, blend two parts shampoo with one part conditioner for added moisture. If you're ready for something new, try a conditioning treatment that has Aragon oil like PK Moroccan Treatment.

Step 2: Sleep On It
Put the beauty back into beauty sleep by using an overnight hair treatment. Place a PK Spa MD Hair mask from the mid shaft of wet or dry hair down to protect against moisture loss during the night. Repeat this process as often as like since there is no such thing as over-conditioning hair.

Just like the skin on your face and body, your scalp gets drier in the winter. If it seems tight and flaky, treat it to a massage. Knead your head for two minutes every evening to boost healthy blood circulation and slough off dead skin cells.

Step 4: Feed Your Hair
You are what you eat. Consuming foods rich in essential fatty acids can do wonders for making your hair look shiny and thick. I suggest adding more avocados, walnuts, and almonds to your daily diet during the winter. Here's a great avocado hair mask recipe--it's so natural, you can even drink it! In a blender, combine one very ripe avocado with one tablespoon each of olive oil, apple cider vinegar, and brown sugar. Blend until the texture is creamy, then massage onto damp hair and put on a shower cap. Step into a hot shower to steam your hair for ten minutes before rinsing. The apple cider vinegar really adds to hair shine!

Council of Social Concern is a charitable, community-based agency responding to the basic needs of people of all ages, providing early education and care, helping individuals develop their potential, creating positive family and community relationships, and fostering respect for diversity. Council of Social Concern was founded in 1969 by a group of local volunteers who were concerned about the needs of low income and minority families. Over the years, the agency has grown in response to the needs of local residents of all ages and ethnic backgrounds.
